Age 5 – five days a week
Kindergarten at Redeemer Day School provides an exceptional program of varied readiness experiences and a complete school curriculum including reading, math, the sciences, art, music, and physical education. The Kindergarten class meets five days a week 9:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Pre-writing, reading and mathematical activities lead to the formalized teaching of these foundation areas. At this age children are encouraged to express themselves by writing stories using inventive spelling, where lack of criticism puts the emphasis on creative effort. Correct spelling comes in time. Math is taught experientially using various manipulatives, and even some cooking activities, to put math to good use.
Please visit the Redeemer yoU page for information about an afternoon enrichment program offered for Kindergarten students who would do well with an extended day of learning and challenges.
Children must be five years old by October 1st of the new school year.
