Early Childhood Enrichment

Early Childhood Enrichment is open to all area 4 and 5 year olds whether they attend our Redeemer School or other nursery schools and/or half-day kindergartens in Westfield or neighboring communities, who are ready to extend their school day. There is a short application process for non-Redeemer students and we do not provide transportation.For Redeemer students, ECE is for members of our morning four year-old Nursery class and our morning Kindergarten class who are ready for a longer day of learning experiences. After dismissal from their morning programs students have lunch and playtime under staff supervision. Each afternoon includes a combination of Playground activities (large motor activity), Story Time, and Project Time. Specials on Monday and Friday include Cooking Club and “Club Time” which varies according to each month’s theme.
Our typical ECE Themes have included: Mind Your Manners, Fairy Tales, Inventions, Christmas Around the World, Human Body “Blood, Bones’ Brains”, Backyard Birds, Recycable-Likeable, Summer Fun.

Mini Enrichment for 2 ½ year olds and 3 year olds (5 days a week –11:45 am -3:00 pm)
The doorway to learning begins with good books. This is a literature based enrichment program. We will use one story each week. By reading the same story, the children will begin to remember more and more about the story, its characters and themes. But more importantly, they will begin to develop their critical thinking as we look at different portions of the story. We will learn about science, math, and history by the things we will bring out from our books. The children will try new activities as we read and learn about a variety of people, places and animals. They will be encouraged to ask questions and wonder how certain portions of the story came to be. By the end of the week, a new book will have become their friend for life.Enrollment for Mini ECE is on a monthly basis.
